In this session, Jack D. Oden, Principal Project Manager and ICS Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert at Parsons Government Services, poses the question “Are we there yet?”, while considering the road already travelled (history), the map we are using (process), and road blocks, speed traps, and cattle crossings (concerns), for our trip to converge Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT).
For quite a few years, we have been talking about travelling down the road leading to the convergence of IT, i.e., servers, workstations, Internet Protocol (IP) switches, etc., and OT, power generation and distribution, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and the control of these and other similar devices. While we have seen the sign posts indicating there has been some activity on the subject, and even passed milestones for some success stories, there is still a road to travel and a lot of work to be done, all while the technology is expanding around us.
